The standalone tracker

The standalone tracker is one web page. Open it and start: there is nothing to install, nothing to sign in to, and nothing leaves your computer. Everything you mark and log is kept by your browser, for that page's address.

What that means

  • Your data is in this browser. Open the same address in another browser, or on another device, and you get an empty tracker. To move or back up your data, export a file (the .zip once you have attached receipts). In Chrome or Edge on a computer you can also keep the data in a folder and let a synced folder carry it, receipts included, between computers.
  • It works offline once the page has loaded. Only the SQLite export needs the internet, the first time.
  • You can install it as an app. From an https address (or localhost), your browser offers Install in the address bar or menu. The page then opens in its own window with an icon. Opening the file straight from disk doesn't offer this; that's a browser rule.
  • The address remembers where you were. The tab you're on, the Submissions filters (school year, status, search, grouping) and an expense you're editing are kept in the page's address, so a reload or a bookmark brings you back to the same view. Reset in the Submissions toolbar returns to this school year, all statuses, no search.
  • Light or dark. The Auto / Light / Dark switch in the header follows your system setting or pins one; the choice is remembered in this browser.
  • Also as a browser extension. The same tracker comes built into the SUFS Tracker browser extension (Chrome and Edge): its toolbar button opens it, it works offline, and its data stays in that browser's extension storage. Uninstalling the extension deletes that data, so keep a data folder or export now and then; the export file moves between the extension and this page.
  • Connected to the SUFS portal. With the browser extension, your SUFS reimbursement requests come into the tracker and are matched to their expenses, whose statuses then follow SUFS; on the portal's new-reimbursement form, it fills each step from an expense when you click. See Install the browser extension and SUFS requests and the portal helper.
  • Nobody else can see it, and nobody else can edit it. If several people keep the same books, or you want the same tracker on your phone and your laptop, someone can run the shared version for you; the same export file moves your data over.
