The shared tracker: user guide¶
Someone runs a tracker server for you. You sign in to it, and everything you mark and log is saved there, in an account you can share with the other people who keep the same books. Every member sees the same students, decisions, log, totals and notices, on every device.
The tracker itself works exactly like the standalone one, so this guide covers only what's different: signing in, accounts, sharing, and how changes travel between devices.
Start here¶
- Tutorial: sign in and share your tracker
- Accounts: switching, defaults, members, join codes
- How changes reach other devices
- Backups, and bringing in data from a standalone tracker
- Connected apps and API tokens
Using the tracker day to day¶
Logging, deciding lines, repeating entries, notices and deadlines are the same in both versions. These pages are written for the standalone tracker but apply unchanged:
- Track your first expenses (skip step 1: you open the server's address and sign in instead)
- Repeat and duplicate expenses
- Receipts, invoices and reports: in the shared tracker the files are kept on the server with the account, so every member sees them and nothing is ever not on this device
- Program and age notices · Key dates · Export file formats
- How decisions and partial entries work
Appearance¶
The Auto / Light / Dark switch in the header follows your system setting or pins one. It's remembered per browser, not per account.
Without a login¶
The sign-in dialog links to the standalone tracker at /standalone/ on the same server: no account, data kept in that browser. Its export file imports into an account later.
Getting a login¶
There is no self-service registration. You get in one of two ways:
- the person running the server creates a login for you, or
- a member of an existing account gives you a join code; on the sign-in dialog, choose Have a join code? Create a login, pick a username and password, and paste the code. You land in their account.
