How changes reach other devices¶
The tracker saves every change to the server as you make it, and checks the server for other people's changes:
- every 20 seconds while the tab is visible,
- whenever you return to the tab, and
- whenever the browser comes back online.
So a change made by another member, or by you on another device, shows up within about twenty seconds, or immediately when you switch back to the tab. Attached files are uploaded as you attach them and fetched when you open them, so they follow the same rule.
If the server can't be reached¶
The header shows Can't reach the server ยท retrying. What you see is the last state fetched; a change you make while disconnected can't be saved, the tracker says so, and it reloads the server's state once the connection is back. The tracker is not an offline editor: for working without a connection, use the standalone tracker and import its export later.
Editing at the same time¶
Two people editing different things at the same time is fine. Two people editing the same line or the same entry within the same few seconds: the last save wins, and the other person sees it on the next refresh. There is no locking and no merge dialog; the tracker is built for a household, not a newsroom.
Session¶
Signing in keeps you signed in on that device for 30 days of use. A password reset by the admin signs you out everywhere.
